China's leading smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has announced it latest and cheapest Quadcore smartphone which is codenamed as Hongmi which is Chinese for Red Rice. Xiaomi Red Rice is launched in China for Yaun 799 / approx $ 130 / approx Pounds 86 / approx Rs 7875/- & will be hitting the shelves on August 12. This is a 3G (GSM) / TD-SCDMA Dual Sim smartphone. Xiaomi Red Rice (Hongmi) sports a 4.7 Inch IPS Retina Capacitive touch screen with multi touch and MIUI V5 user interface. This smartphone has a HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 Pixels, ~312 ppi pixels density, 16 M Colours. Dimensionally Xiaomi Red Rice measures 125.3 x 64.5 x 9.9 mm (4.93 x 2.54 x 0.39 in), this smartphone is available in three flavors viz; Black, Chinese Red & Metallic Grey. You can even personalise your smartphone colour by purchasing back covers which are available in vibrant colours viz; Blue, Green & Yellow. The weight of Xiaomi Red Rice is not yet available. The smartphone also boasts of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. Under the skin of this elegant looking Xiaomi Red Rice is a Quadcore 1.5 GHz Cortex A7 Processor, MediaTek MT6589T Chipset, PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 1 GB RAM. Technically this smartphone will be efficent in multi tasking due to its quadcore turbo chipset & will be a pleasure experience for gamer due to GPU which is packed in it. This smartphone will come out of the box with Android OS v4.2 (Jelly Bean). The internal memory stocked in Xiaomi Red Rice is of 4 GB, which is a bit disappointing but looking at the price at which it is offered it can be ignored. Xiaomi has covered up for the lag by providing a microSD card slot that supports upto 32 GB microSD card. The data connectivity aspect of this smartphone holds Wifi, Wifi Direct, Wifi HotSpot, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB v2.0, USB On-the-go. On the positioning front Xiaomi Red Rice features GPS with support for A GPS. This smartphone also features MI sound, Gyroscope, Electronic Compass & Dual mic. The 8 MP BSI sensor Primary camera on the rear panel of this smartphone comes with LED flash light. This primary camera is capable of recording HD videos of 1080 P @ 30 fps. The secondary camera on the front panel is of 1.3 MP for video chatting. Xiaomi Red Rice has a power bank of 2000 mAh Li-ion Battery.
