Google Glass has an optical head mounted display which makes it a wearable computer. This brilliant innovation from Google looks brilliant and packs some great specifications. Google had started an explorer program on its website to allow people interested in buying the explorer edition of Google Glass to apply for it (this program is closed now). The explorer edition of Google Glass was available for $ 1500 which is approx Pounds 982, approx Rs. 92000/-. The user edition will be available at a lesser price when it will be launched in 2014. Google Glass has five colour options viz; Blue, Black, Gray, White, Red & it weighs mere 50 gms (1.76 oz), which is lighter than the average pair of sunglasses. Google Glass features Prism projector display with a resolution of 640 x 360 Pixels, now this is equivalent to watching 25 inch screen from 8 feet away. It can receive data through WiFi or can tether via Bluetooth to an android device or iPhone. Google Glass can be controlled by a capacitive touch panel on the side of its frame or user can also give a voice commands by first saying "OK Glass" followed by the command. Technically it is loaded with a Dual Core 1.2 GHz ARM v7 Processor, OMAP 4430 Chipset, 1 GB RAM. Google Glass will come out of the box with Android OS v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Internal memory stocked in it is of 16 GB of which 12 GB is user available. On the front of Google Glass is a 5 MP Camera which has an ability to take photos as well as record HD videos of 720 P. On the connectivity aspect it packs WiFi, Bluetooth, microUSB & for positioning GPS is stacked in Google Glass. It also has backward compatibility to any Bluetooth capable android devices and iPhone, while Google has also released an app called MyGlass companion to configure and manage your Google Glass, but this app can run on devices with Android OS v4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. Google has also used Bone Conduction Transducer for audio transmission in Google Glass. The use of this technology means that the sound is transmitted to the ears of the user without the need to wear earphones or headphones. Google Glass has a Li-Po Battery with a juice of 2.1 Wh.
